We had pizza. June is allergic to milk - causes her digestive problems big time. So I found a great recipe for milk-free pizza dough. But it's not missing a thing - PopPop and I love it and make pizza from it even when June's not here!
Here's a pic of her own little pizza, sans cheese, of course:
And this is how you cool your pizza so you can eat it (thanks for the help, PopPop):
And this is our "YUM!" face:And PopPop and Mimi get a pizza, too - with cheese:Here's the recipe - from Recipezarr - it's made in the bread machine - yay!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water, 80-90 degrees F
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning (optional)
Directions
- Add lukewarm water and oil to mixing pan. Add flour, sugar, italian seasoning and salt to the pan. Tap pan to settle dry ingredients, then push some ingredients to the corner. Make a well in the center of dry ingredients; add yeast. Lock pan into breadmaker. Program breadmaker for the dough cycle. When done, remove dough from the pan and place on a floured surface. Knead for 1 minute the let dough rest for 15 minutes.
- Roll dough out to fit your pizza pan. Place on greased pan. Top as desired and bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 - 15 minutes or until nicely browned.
For the sauce, we just use a small can of tomato sauce blended with Italian seasoning, onion flakes and garlic powder. (we don't like a sweet pizza sauce) Another tip - have your rack kinda low in the oven and use a generous amount of oil on the pan - makes for a crispy bottom on the crust - yum.
